
The original pioneers of sustainable outdoor recreation, Leave No Trace holds a place at the table amongst the most influential non-profits in America. Working together to develop new creative elements for their brand campaigns and educational guides was a beautiful way to connect with our passion for giving back to the mountains and inspiring others to do the same. Our goal is to bring inclusivity and joy to every design while using simplicity and color to keep the focus on the story of sustainability and outdoor ethics. The ability to keep a visual flow between illustrative pieces and educational content was foremost in connecting with our audience.
Leave No Trace
Brand Design
We love to help brands like Leave No Trace connect with their partners to educate, inspire, and motivate the world to practice sustainability in the outdoors. The brand guides we built use original designs, illustrations, and unique layouts to teach the simple and effective strategies used by Leave No Trace to help brands of all sizes connect with their market. Not only will partners have the opportunity to use these guides but also build a campaign with creative assets unique to them.
Leave No Trace x Subaru
We were tasked with creating a dynamic car wrap series for Leave No Trace and Subaru to be used by Leave No Trace's Traveling Trainers in 2025. The design needed to highlight both brands while promoting outdoor ethics across the U.S. We incorporated Subaru’s adventurous spirit with sleek branding elements and Leave No Trace’s core principles using nature-inspired graphics. Bold colors and flowing lines symbolized movement and sustainability. The final wrap featured eye-catching visuals, seamlessly blending Subaru’s rugged reliability with Leave No Trace’s mission. The wrapped vehicles became mobile ambassadors, spreading awareness nationwide for EV’s and sustainable outdoor recreation.
After a strategic analysis of the new Subaru specs and identifying opportunities for a creative layout, we began to put together the initial designs that would meet both brands’ expectations. Our designs needed to include a nod to the Leave No Trace principles, which we highlighted using the specific elements from the city, mountains, and rivers. Next, we designed a prominent design for the hood that featured Subaru’s new spring marketing campaign for sustainability and the Wilderness series. The overall design was a beautiful collaboration of original artwork and strategic marketing that was a huge success for both brands that brought synergies to the Traveling Trainers program and Subaru’s stewardship efforts.
Aramark Destinations
U.S. National Parks
Moraine collaborated with Leave No Trace and Aramark to create a series of custom designs for U.S. national parks. Our challenge was to develop original illustrations that visually captured the essence of each park while integrating Leave No Trace principles. By tailoring the messaging to each park’s specific environmental challenges, the campaign educated visitors in a visually engaging way. Each design combined striking imagery with essential guidelines, ensuring a unique, site-specific approach to conservation awareness. This initiative not only promoted responsible outdoor ethics but also strengthened the connection between visitors and the natural landscapes they sought to protect.
Skills & Ethics Guide
We were challenged to create a 70+ page educational booklet for Leave No Trace, which would serve as the primary outdoor ethics guide that focuses on Leave No Trace Principles in depth. Our goal was to craft original illustrations that complemented the core principles, ensuring the guide was both informative and visually appealing. Additionally, we wanted to make learning outdoor skills fun and accessible, using a clean layout, easy-to-read typography, and vibrant imagery. We carefully structured the content to flow seamlessly, reinforcing key messages while maintaining an inviting aesthetic. By merging creativity with education, we developed a resource that inspires responsible outdoor recreation while making ethical practices engaging and easy to understand.
The custom illustrations we built for the Skills & Ethics Guide have been used in print and digital media to create a unified brand framework that looks beautiful and cohesive across all platforms. Designed to bridge the gap between modern geometric style and a playful realism, these creative elements tell a story while remaining inclusive and relatable.
